The peripherals argument doesn't really hold up, as you don't have to use Apple keyboards/mice/trackpads, etc with their products. Almost any Windows mouse or keyboard, whether wired or bluetooth, is going to work on a Mac, often without the need to install any drivers or anything.

Yeah, but that's the beauty of programs like Parallels. I suppose you could always dual boot via Boot Camp, but then you're partitioning away half of your memory and storage space for an OS you won't use half of the time.
