Yes!  I love Shostakovich!  Thank you for mentioning him.

The first work that really caught my attention was Holst's "Mars" in the 9th grade, followed closely by Dvorak's 9th.  Am I the only one who openly, unashamed adores the late Romantics like Dvorak?  Because I don't care how it sounds to anyone else, I still think Dvorak's 9th is just magnificent, and I will stop what

"In any other context, Trump’s behavior represents the worst humanity has to offer. But on his show, as he spurs arguments between Gary Busey and Meat Loaf, Trump is a lowly juggler toiling in the background of an incredibly bizarre circus."

"[Corporations] hope the seed of early affection planted by a child’s fondness for Charlie Tuna or Chester Cheetah or any other distinguished spokes-animal will bloom into a lifetime of unwavering brand loyalty. ."

Spring and Fall,
by Gerard Manley Hopkins:

I don't know, I think it's an interesting idea.  After all, a lot of work goes into those commercials and we work pretty hard to ignore them.  I'm just hoping someone can explain to me why empathizing with sentient red M&Ms in their desperate, hopeless attempt to not be gruesomely eaten will help me want to buy red

I can't go as far as "unabashedly love", but I do openly enjoy certain aspects of this movie.  Like when they are holding Affleck's character for a crime they believe he committed, but know he has no memory of, no reason to repeat and no desire to have committed in the first place.  The quandary of what to do with

Oh yeah.  The timing of that felt like it was meant to be tragic, but just came off to me as horrifyingly cruel.  Why would you do that to someone you loved?

I just finally saw this, and if anyone ever reads this…don't see the Dictator.  The Marx Brothers made movies about what they loved first and foremost: anarchy, and also music.  Baron Cohen makes movies about what he holds in contempt, and it shows through in the ugliest ways.

"Okay yeah asplosions asplosions gunmen over there and then you asplosions and we gunmen asplosions asplosions. *wheeze*  Got it?"

With apologies to Roger Ebert, I most miss a video game.  I loved Master of Orion and Master of Magic, and was actively looking forward to MechLords - later renamed MetalLords after a lawsuit from FASA, of all things - but then instead of releasing the game, Sim-Tex went belly-up, and Microprose followed soon enough.

I read that 4 was originally some other movie entirely and some numbnuts got the bright idea to make the grizzled old veteran into John McClane with some "minor script alterations."  I thought it showed, and I thought that logic followed it here.  In this one, they tried to commit to Bruce Willis being a difficult dad

Right there with you.  I clicked right over to the Spoiler Space out of sheer contempt for the apparent mediocrity being reviewed—and now I half-want to see this mess.  Like, the way I half-want to see a car accident when I realize that's why traffic has slowed down so much.

I haven't read it either, but it sounds fairly terrible from the review.  If you liked it, please share what you disagree with and what letter you thought it deserved.

Okay, this is either an ironic masterstroke or you're an idiot.  I really can't tell which. I think that makes me the idiot.  I hate when that happens.

Well I NEVER in ALL MY…*clutch at pearls*

I need to slip that sentence into a conversation soon.  Maybe at church or something.

That name was built in a lab from parts of lesser names.

Steve, the whole point of the article is that the movies in it flopped.
