Still, those last three words seemed *devastating* to me.  Whether Rothbart is sending himself up or not, he's had an awful lot of time to learn what every single person out there has to learn to have a successful relationship.  Instead, he wrote a book about not doing that.

Interesting.  Thanks all for the replies.  I have to say that with my mockery and whatnot I had fun watching it, so that counts for something.

This episode was the first time I've ever watched this show.  My wife loves it, but I have no discernible sense of taste when it comes to fashion, so my comments will probably belong in the category that Conan the Barbarian's would if he wandered into the pages of "Sense and Sensibility."

See, I thought the opposite, that it was even worse than this review suggested.  We walked out of the theater saying "by stupid people, about stupid people, for stupid people" for all the staggering ill-considered choices characters make.  Like for example when Cavill's character is captured and getting beaten: the

That was a surprisingly poignant article, one that I enjoyed immensely.

'Slightly wily about your girlfriend but easily confused by anything else.'  That guy never doesn't seem like he's playin the field to me.  Even in A-Team, trapped in a combat tank in the sky with three other dudes, he seems like he's thinking about who he's going to screw next.

I really enjoyed this movie. It gains nothing by the comparison to Verhoeven's typically inspired predecessor, but as a dumb actioner with a brain - if you don't look too hard - it was a blast. The apathy leveled at this movie seems like proof that we've become completely immune to spectacle for the sake of spectacle.

This will not make me think about her vagina more, this will make me think about the song less. Also, I now doubly prefer the version I had in my head when I had no idea what the words were and kept thinking he was singing about his Magnavox.

There's a version of this movie that I really wanted to see that was directed by Michael Mann.

No, I felt that way too.  It was flawed, for certain, but I enjoyed myself, the stylization was cool and consistent and some of the performances worked just fine for me.  (Theron, in particular, nailed this balance of crazy, desperate and vicious in ways that made her terrifying and sympathetic at the same time.)  For
