The narrative of this article is all wrong. This isn't "BVS tanks but they make another movie anyways because the momentum is unstoppable". This is "BVS tanks and they finally hire an accomplished director to take the reigns of a tent-pole movie".

Google Tip: Say something like "site:avclub.com/article" for added precision. I didn't do that in this case, but if I had, it would have made my job drastically easier (if you search for [asshole and "gene simmons" site:avclub.com/article], the first four results are the four articles I linked. Go figure.)

Here's why I'm optimistic:
(1) That's ticket revenue, not profit. This was an exceptionally expensive film to make, and they spent a king's ransom on marketing it, too. They're doing fine, but they're not laughing their way to the bank, either. They just lost their third weekend to an R-rated Melissa McCarthy movie

There's no way that anyone making movies in the DCEU didn't hear the roar of dissatisfaction from fans and critics with BVS, the vast majority of which was laid squarely on Snyder's shoulders. I don't know how Snyder's credibility with other creatives in the DCEU wouldn't be in the toilet. If David Ayer (the director

Trailers this long almost invariably ruin movies. On the off chance I might want to actually see and enjoy this movie, I refuse to watch.

I'm no fancy big city doctor, but I think maybe age had something to do with Glenn Ford's death. He was 90!

I think the Christopher Nolan Batman movies were pretty distinctly Christopher Nolan movies, no?

I know Blade's technically a Marvel comic character just as much as Spider Man, but he's not nearly as iconic. I had no idea Blade was a comic book character watching those movies when they came out. Blade was more of a vampire action movie (a genre all its own, which Blade probably does deserve some credit/blame for)

I once followed a link that said that "Click here to see who you should unfriend." It was a listing of friends that "liked" Nickelback

Is it possible to discern what these people are talking about? Did they know they were being recorded? I'm intrigued by the possibility of someone having said something deeply personal, or hilariously humiliating. Maybe a terrible first date?

I didn't forget that there needed to be another woman, and I actually thought about Force Awakens before making my comment. The female-female interaction that sprung to mind was Rey and Maz (the bespectacled barkeep).

Speaking of B99, how the hell is Andy Samberg going to simultaneously star in two sitcoms on two different networks? Did someone think that far ahead?

You're clearly expecting big things out of Brock Osweiler, a guy with zero resume who was benched in favour of a noodle-armed interception machine, and is being paid way, way too much money.

I think it'd be hard not to pass the test in any movie where a female actress is the lead star (and not just a co-lead with a male star). The fact that her movies don't dabble in romantic subplots also stacks the deck in the right direction (in the male-led equivalent, the co-lead female is almost invariably a

That's not exactly right. The profits generated on the stock market mostly originate from the businesses that people are investing in (businesses that make things that people want and will pay money for) becoming more valuable, or loaning money to businesses (that make things people want and will pay money for) in
