Jumped the Snark

This is one of those bands that comes off as really boring on the first few listens. I thought they were a snooze, too, when I first picked up Teen Dream but I kept on listening for some reason and the beauty of the songs just sort of came out slowly over time.

You would never know by that picture who the "Broadway star" is.

Yes

It was a bizarre moment of television and I loved it. I was truly in shock for a second when they said it, but then I was almost immediately in hysterics. I just couldn't believe they committed so fully to the L & O style that they killed a character in a car-trunk-meth-lab explosion.

Oh man, I do remember "California Love" being one of the most overplayed songs of all time.

Yeah, but you gave this episode an A-. How could this episode have let you down at all if you gave it an A-?

He's talking about Steve Brooks of Torche, smartypants. Pay attention.

Yep. Definitely not interested in anymore of the hokey speeches at the end of the show. It killed the end of this episode for me. Just really spoiled my eggs.

Did anyone else have a problem with Annie's speech to Abed? I felt like we hitting Full House levels of hokiness. Her tone of voice may have had a lot to do with it. Maybe she was overselling it?

Umm, quasi-Asperger's? Abed's the full-deal, homey.

THANK YOU! I was waiting for some discussion in the review on this episode's commentary on communication but it never came. The emails between Abed & Troy, the texts between Jeff & Britta. The most direct communication in the entire episode took place only through a mediator. Everybody's so hung up on the documentary

I can't hardly listen to Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me. It's just too easy to get a laugh out of those crowds and it drives me nuts. They roar over the silliest things.

But my funny bone is not tickled by this.

Ididn't know that was a term, but that's interesting. I haven't listened to this album on anything but computer speakers, but I'm sure you're right. I can't make it through the Bedlam in Goliath, for a few reasons, but one of them is that it just too consistently loud. And I love metal. I can crank a High On Fire

I had tickets to see them last time they were stopping at Red Rocks. I ended up eating the tickets because we didn't have the money to get ourselves from Illinois to Colorado. I learned my lesson, because I'm still heartbroken that I missed it. I will make it out to see them (somewhere) this time.

I saw them in the fall of 2010 and loved it. I was already a fan of Plastic Beach, but the show gave me a new appreciation for it. They killed "Glitter Freeze", and now I hear the song so differently when I listen to it.

I had to read that plot description two times to understand it.

@avclub-0dd0d0b69018277376ed20a21dd83d05:disqus  I'll go to more local festivals when they put Phish, Radiohead, and Ben Folds Five in front of my face all in the same weekend.

I think I finally understand what this Dawes thing is all about now! NBC was so desperate for viewership that they used Dawes to lure AV Club commenters to Parenthood! Todd, Hyden, NBC, and Dawes have been in cahoots the whole time!

I tried to explain the meme to my wife, but then I had to explain what a meme was. The entire conversation was a failure.
