One of my favorite moments of the entire show was Roger talking his enlightenment and saying, "It wore off".

"I've even heard people call Star Trek: The Next Generation a soap opera and it's not even serialized."

They showed a few real print ads before (e.g., Don looking at the famous VW Beetle "Lemon" ad in a magazine), but I think that's the only real TV commercial.

The "ideal nuclear family" of the '50s (mom, dad, and 2.5 kids living alone in their own suburban house) was a fairly brief post-war anomaly. It was most certainly not the norm throughout human history (or even just American history), and it had plenty of its own problems.

Cord-cutting (i.e., giving up cable) is a good deal for most people financially. Personally, I pay about 1/10th of what I was paying before ($7.99/mo. for Netflix, vs. $80/mo. or more for cable), plus the initial investment of $35 for a Roku. Amazon Prime is another $99 a year, but I would be paying for that

Would you like to try that again, but in a comprehensible English sentence?

That made me actually laugh out loud at the office, which I turned into a fake cough.

My favorite aspect of MRA-ism is the child custody argument, i.e., that feminists are somehow responsible for men not getting custody as often as women.

"regardless of the actual content of their message"

…. wait, what?

That is the question right there…

French Raccoon Annihilation…?

UK version: "Health and safety"

(scribbling) "Dear Agent Scully, I did not appreciate your lawyer's tone…"

I think attending a "Seven Sisters" college would have actually been pretty typical for someone with her background at the time. That was a well-worn path for WASP-y, upper crust young women. (And there were plenty of social opportunities- dances, etc.- for women at those colleges to meet men back then).

They didn't explicitly say so, but my impression was that he already came clean with her about his identity and that his honesty was the major turning point in their relationship.

That was a nice moment- I enjoyed it, too.

"even other planets if you include stuff like Star Trek"

Same here.

This is some A+ Dadding right here.
