My stepmom was severely traumatized by that doll sequence as a kid. She was kind of annoyed when we rented it, and I didn't find it nearly as scary as she did.

You should check out "The Mezzotint" by the ghost story master M.R. James.
I was traumatized as a kid by the commercials for those "Time-Life Mysteries of the Unknown" books, which were all about the Bermuda Triangle, ESP, etc.
Picnic at Hanging Rock is a deeply disturbing and unsettling film, considering how little (plot-wise) actually happens. It just creates a feeling of inescapable dread. Even more so if you see it in a movie theater on the big screen.
I saw Mulholland Drive about 10-12 times when I was working at a movie theater, but even knowing what was coming didn't make that scene with the Wimpy's guy any less frightening for me.
I was going to mention The Innocents as well— such a great film.
I find that entire movie terrifying (especially the end), so, no it's not just you. That was going to be my #1 pick.
I watch it to make fun of first-time homeowners and their ridiculous expectations.
Woohoo! I'm signing up.
Haggis is delicious (it's my favorite pub lunch, actually), and I won't hear a word against it!
Indeed. More penguins…
It's a great book! Though it does kind of make you feel like you're really freezing to death in the Antarctic.
For a minute, I was hoping this was an adaptation of Beryl Bainbridge's book The Birthday Boys (about the Scott expedition). But this looks pretty good, too.
Hope you like it! It's pretty quick and easy. I made it for my grandma a couple weeks ago.
Awwww, I had no idea there were food threads or I would have been here ages ago! I love cooking.
@e_buzz_miller:disqus You guys are cordially invited here for Christmanukkah, if you don't have other plans.
Ditto. I'm not very good at the flipping!
I'm pretty much on the opposite side of the country, sadly (in upstate NY), but that sounds like a lot of fun!
Awwwwwwww. Does that mean I get latkes? (waits hopefully)
I'm a certified Nutella addict, but I'm not sure even I could handle it deep-fried…
