I've personally avoided iTunes, and buy most of my digital stuff off Amazon.  I save the tracks in various places (Windows Media Player, external hard drive, & cloud backup) so they can't suddenly "disappear".  Hopefully.

I have the hardest time parting with books!   I own enough of them that the movers I hired apparently remembered me 2 years later.

I was insistent about taking all my CDs with me when I moved last (from one state to another).  I even sorted them all out alphabetically.

I'm also a big opera and classical music fan.  I feel an extra weight of responsibility to buy CDs and support the artists, since there are so few classical fans around to support them.  I like having the libretto handy, too, although you can often find those online.
