Meditation and CBT are fantastic tools, but they're not a panacea for every mental illness. There are important and effective applications for meds, for intensive and/or long-term psychotherapy, and for other non-behavioral approaches.

If that happened within the last 10 years, your doc's actions were tantamount to malpractice. Terrible. That's treatment 101 kind of stuff, which any responsible doc would avoid.
Yeah, but this is a kid who, after shooting his dealer, didn't IMMEDIATELY get into his car and search it for drugs. I knew right then he wasn't operating at peak junkie efficiency.
I'm seeing downloadable files, at least of the new eps, though they're slower to download in this app as opposed to the podcast player. No setting for auto downloads, though, which is a pain; means I have to remember to download before I leave the house if I don't want to stream.
I'll forgive Christopher Guest anything, anywhere. He's one whose art definitely transcends any dislike I might have for him as a (public) persona.
If you haven't already, check out "Her Master's Voice," which is gripping, and shows Conti at her best.
Well, sure, they've got to find something to entertain themselves during those long stretches between flops and goals…
Yes, there's that.
I got the Kindle Paperwhite, and I find it quite easy on my eyes. I resisted e-books for a long time, having always relished the tactile/sensory experience of paper books, but I have to admit that I love reading in bed even more now, it's great to browse online and download something instantly, and so much nicer than…
I get the feeling Brody gets a lot of support from his fellow comedians, because a lot of them can identify to one degree or another with his struggles, and he seems to be well-liked in spite of himself. Which means he gets added to various other projects and tours and shows. And I really enjoyed his HBO show as an…
Doing the same, making the Harris loop. Fun to revisit everything, even though it hurts, and it's been heart-warming and -breaking to see all the instagram pictures Peretti and others have been posting. He lives on, though, in some of the best/worst anti-humor out there.
God. Opiates, y'all. Just…don't.
thanks. Not that I have anything meaningful to say…just, ouch.
Ach. Somebody post an updated f-ing Newswire so I can talk about Harris Wittels dying.
Based on extensive historical documents, I'm sure.
Yeah, it wasn't flawless, though I did spend most of that part with my head in my popcorn. But overall, we found the event thrilling, and it translated well enough to the big screen. Lots of fun.
You're right, and I went off. I've got some experience with the victims of this kind of behavior, and it chills and horrifies me, and to hear all the comments excusing it, or forgiving it on cultural grounds drives me to distraction. Sorry for putting you on the end of the blast.
As someone who works closely with mental health facilities and their clients, I can attest to this: the facilities who are worth anything have waiting lists and huge price tags, and insurance companies—even at the higher tier of policies—are horrendously stingy and bottom-line driven. Unless you're actively…
And yet few of the stories are maudlin or push for pathos; they remain clear-eyed, for the most part. Sympathetic, but not manipulative.
MYLES—really enjoying your reviews; you're striking a nice balance between noting themes without trying to force a 'big picture' onto everything. Astute and sensitive write-ups that add to my enjoyment of the show!
