I agree with you completely, Fanboy. I didn't dislike the movie, but I found it hard to love. The plot is hard to discern. The use of light and dark jarring. And the voice-overs necessarily grating. Loved the sci-fi on a budget aspect and the swimming pool group execution scene is one my favorite cinema moments. But

Don't start with Alpahville
No picnic, that one.

The chase is on!

Maybe they could find a middle ground.

Is the terminal illness…
worse than the second act suicide? Discuss.

You're not wrong. The movie was unshapely and morally confused more than ambiguous. And it was, above all, boring.

I hate the Weinstein Oscar machine
"The Reader" is mediocre and its nomination lays bare the vacuity of the Academy Awards. The "controversy" is a means to raise awareness of the film—no press is bad press—and boost ticket sales. The Weinsteins know how to get noticed and manipulate the awards process better than

Racist
That is all.

Is it a full length doc or just a short feature?

Reason to discount entire 2008 Oscars
"The Reader" get a best picture nomination. Proof once again that the Oscars are about savvy marketing above all and no one Oscar-markets like a Weinstein.

You've got to see "Dressed to Kill," "Blow Out," and "Sisters." "Dressed to Kill" is off the wall ridiculous, but so much fun.

I loved the ad campaign for the film
I have a hard time separating my experience with the film from its ad campaign. (See the trailer.) Advertisements for the film portrayed it to be a tantalizing, sexy time, but it was actually a powerful pro-monogamy film that presented wanton sexuality as dangerous and empty. Nice

It's a style choice to convey speaking to you face-to-face.

Jack needs the island, the mission, and to be a hero. He's a sad shlub, otherwise. I'm pretty sure he was thrilled to have Hurley need his help. Like Randy "the Ram" heading back into the ring.

Ack, Damages. Let's see how many plot twists we can put in one sixty minute episode. That pilot was ridiculous. The episode all about Danson's lawyer's guilt was one of my favorite hours from TV last year, though. It also hoped that the episode was mostly straightforward and not too twisty.

You're excceptance is denyed.

Love it.

In Jan and Feb set all movie expectations way back.
