Is Pablo Honey Kill'em All? I actually could see that.
Is Pablo Honey Kill'em All? I actually could see that.
A huge part of my guitar-learning experience was trying to master the riffs from my Master of Puppets tab book, and I swear I never managed to crack Damage Inc, that song is monstrous.
I definitely think the real, ultimate showdown for best Radiohead album should be between Kid A and Ok Computer, but as far as the "nostalgia-tinged classic vs. ambitious, mature followup" thing goes, I think Bends makes for a closer comparison.
I think the toolsets and skillsets required to be a success have changed; there's plenty of people making money off of putting their shit into the ether without the security of the old-industry business model, but we're in a whirlwind transitional period where a bunch of shit is still ambiguous or changing really fast…
I've heard his isolated drum tracks on Justice, and I swear he does this wacky, random shit where I can't tell if he's being creative and cool or if he just doesn't know what the hell he's doing.
"Hated Jason" was just lazy shorthand for what you described, but you're right, it was a more nuanced situation.
I'm intrigued! I'll have to keep my eye on those.
It's also more well-rounded; their early stuff is muddy as hell, but it's hefty enough to make it work. Justice is clearer, but it's just so thin and top-heavy that it doesn't matter.
I always thought it was because they hated Jason, but they also loved Cliff and his bass was almost equally hidden. I think they seriously just didn't know any better; inaudible bass seems to have been the blind default in metal, at least in the 80s.
I've been wishing for years now that they'd just do a fucking remaster, the bad production on their early stuff works in a punk sort of way, but on Justice it's just holding the album back enormously.
It's not a high bar, but I think as far as metal goes, One has the best video I've ever seen.
Hey, well, nice having this discussion with you!
No matter what you can say about their later work or public persona, this album is untarnishably fantastic and I WON'T HEAR A WORD TO THE CONTRARY
Truly the Bends vs. Ok Computer of the metal world.
Bills…
Bills…
BILLS…
Damn it, why do we keep getting Bill's mail?
Damn, I saw that like twenty minutes after making my post. I guess I stand majorly corrected.
The original X-Com is indeed extremely intimidating and took me a long while to break into, but I always try my damndest to get other people into it because it's one of the most truly rewarding game experiences I've ever had. Watching footage of others playing has helped me immensely in getting a feel for the game, I…
Took me a second, well played.
???
I'm pretty sure the majority of the problems experienced are performance related, not game breaking bugs. Even then, only some people are experiencing extreme slowdown. I was getting really shitty framerates until I changed the antialiasing from MS to FX and now it runs really well.
