Very true.  I know the editors dial everything up to 11 in the edit bay, but she seems to be playing a role more than anyone.  Although "lame DJ" is probably better than her job description of "homemaker" on the show - not because there's anything wrong with parents who stay home with their kids, but because being a

@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus You're right that Mad Men isn't a ratings monster, even on cable (like The Walking Dead is, somehow), but its fifth season will probably end up averaging twice the audience of this show.  And Mad Men is an unmitigated success insofar as it was AMC's first attempt at

I think it has more to do with quality than subject matter.  Five years ago, people weren't sitting around talking about how important 1960's advertising was in their lives.  Or how interested they were in sparkly vampires.

If I were to characterize this show as revisionist news porn for the MoveOn.org crowd, to what extent would I be exaggerating?  Five percent?

I don't like to complain about the reviews that much - I appreciate that reviews are subjective, and so I understand why AV Club matches reviewers who would voluntarily watch the show to the review.  So why is Phil reviewing this?  He says he's not a foodie, thinks anyone in a cowboy hat must eat road kill, and

I work in state government, and I don't doubt for a second that there were many conversations about the constitutionality of the bill from the get-go.  But every legislator who represents a border district, or has had kidnappings and/or murders in their districts, would have equated a vote against/veto of the bill as
