Haven't seen this episode yet (had to work) so I can't wait - based on what I read.

I recall Julie Harris as one of several actors (Hal Holbrook being another) who lent his or her voices to The White House Saga, a 1966 "audio book" album that told various stories about the history of the White House and its occupants (all in the hazy fallout of the post-JFK/Camelot years, I guess).  http://tinyurl.com

Enjoyed the show and all that, but really had a question about Talk Soup - Greg Kinnear-style:

Internet - MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!

At the Victory (a defunct movie palace-turned-"teen nightclub" that flourished in Evansville, IN during this period - me being a kid from rural Western Kentucky), we shouted "GET LAID/GET FUCKED!" at the very juncture you mention above. Never quite understood why, but there you are.

Thanks.  I'll dig around for that - might be worth checking out, since stuff like that was (is?) meant to be more ephemeral than regular TV (reruns).

I was too young (14-15?) to pay too much attention to either the show or its various controversies, such as they were.  I do, however, recall Gless in "House Calls," which I rather liked (both with her and with Redgrave).  I was (and still am) more a comedy guy than a full-on drama dude.

RIP.  "Though the wind may whisper and epic sometimes/the cast must include Karen Black…"

I half wondered if Siggy had anything to do with Lagertha losing the baby - feeding her something, but I guess not.

"Pawn threatens bishop!"

I had to think about that one for a few beats to get it; I was more used to "turd cutter" I guess. Either way…yes, Haley's a sick twist.

And to continue the theme: the episode was a PASTICHE made of great plot devices and dialogue…

…and don't forget, the "building the laser weapon" montage in "Real Genius."

Especially dressed as a black Jesus.  Yessir.

I, for one, enjoyed The Look he gave Manny when Manny asked for Jay's credit card for the flowers.  That look sums up Jay Pritchett.

I agree - it was a great episode all around.  The whole Suki/Sueki thing reminded me of the "Jerri has an eating disorder" episode of "Strangers with Candy," for which I still carry a torch, the movie notwithstanding.

Oh hell yes, Amirite Shyamalan.

I personally laughed out loud several times.
