"It’s clearly influenced by R.E.M., but the era before that band took a turn toward the musical center."

"SUICIDE, BITCH! Canyon Style!"

Okay, I've been sitting patiently waiting for an AV Club backlash, and it doesn't appear to ever be forthcoming, so I'll just go ahead and rip the Band-Aid off and say it: I do not get Bob's Burgers. I've given it a chance on multiple occasions, and…nothing. I don't get it. There are tons of awesome and talented

Seconded.

Completely agree. It's their worst album, but that only means it's the worst album by one of the greatest bands ever. There's an incalculable number of albums out there a whole hell of a lot worse than Around the Sun. I'll gladly go to bat for the first three songs, plus "I Wanted to Be Wrong" and "Boy in the Well."

Have his mother singin' "It's so haaaaaaaard…"

I love how that picture up there makes it look like Morrissey hated Joyce even then.

Nothing tops his showdown with Axl, though. "Shut up, bitch!"

Along with House of Cosbys, counterpoint: Boondocks.

Well, in fairness, the child had such a beautiful smile, and he could not resist.

Stardust Memories is my favorite movie of all time, so I kinda have a weakness for this narrative.

Even if what

You're right, and in my comment below I really didn't mean to say anything bad about Marah's actual article, since I got what she was doing. I'm just talking about the commenters, and the general tenor of Morrissey coverage on this site, which is usually really adversarial.

Eh, this is pretty much par for the course as far as AV Club Morrissey articles go. This site fucking hates him. Usually you have to do something really terrible to engender that kind of internet hatred (i.e. Chris Brown). All Morrissey has ever done is remain consistent in his devotion to an ideology that a lot of

Oh yeah, it's totally different now, but that just makes it even more interesting. If you listen closely to the chord changes you can tell it's the same song, and it's just fascinating to hear it like that. Like everyone, I wish he'd do more old stuff like that, but it's always great to see him either way.

Followed by Lonely Island.

Every time I've seen Richman live there's always some asshole screaming "Roadrunner!" or "I'm Straight!" multiple times, and he always busts on them for it (good-naturedly, of course, since I don't think he knows any other mode). That said, I have seen him do "Pablo Picasso," and he's also done "Old World" at every
