@rmarma:disqus Someone pointed that out to her on Twitter, and she agreed and apologized for not making that point in the article.

Let's Get Lost - Elliot Smith, which is typically wistful but still less of a downer than most of his songs. Even though I know he's talking about losing everything to drugs, to me it just sounds like needing an escape. http://www.youtube.com/watc…

I agree that the blanket statement is not helpful, and it really derails the conversation. Your joke is funny because the target is Sarah Palin, who was re-victimizing rape victims by forcing them to pay to have a chance at receiving justice, which we don't do for victims of other violent crimes. She's the asshole in

I'M telling YOU what to be pissed at? Where? You're the one who suggested that I should take a fucking breather and go out for a walk. Maybe you confused your response to me with mine to you?

I understand that he didn't say that she should literally be gang-raped. But saying that IF it happened, it would be hilarious is close enough to be just as damaging, in my opinion. There is a difference between shock value in the context of a joke, and saying something like this to an actual person in the audience,

Oh sweet. What was he suggesting? Just that it would be hilarious if it happened.

The point of all of this is NOT that Tosh does rape jokes. So do a lot of other comedians, but the public response doesn't rise to this level, because in general we seem to feel that no topics are off-limits as long as you're funny.

If you don't mind answering this publicly, could you tell me the name of your UCC church? I live in Minneapolis, and attended a couple of services at a UCC church a couple of years back. My husband and I are sort of in the same position as you and your wife - both raised Christian (Catholic, which I rejected early in

That is a truly impressive guilt trip. I was raised Catholic too, but we're midwestern, so the guilt was passive-aggressive. I still internalized it, but it's easier to outright reject when your mother takes an approach like: "Oh, you're not going to take that babysitting job? No, I know you're busy… There are a lot

I feel the same. I've tried a few of the other pop culture podcasts and I just don't think there really is an equal replacement. I love the way they discuss pop culture stuff without getting defensive about it with each other, or scolding, which I feel happens sometimes on PCHH. I'm fine with being generally

Seriously, the season that covered Jake's addiction and Phil's death was unbelievable. They did win the Emmy for it, I think. I love that show.
