Where's here? I heard that in Australia, where Zusak is from, it wasn't marketed as YA, and I thought that was true in the UK as well.

I loved There's a Bat in Bunk Five, because I generally love anything that takes place at summer camp.

Will Harris! I loved The Mysterious Disappearance of Leon (I Mean Noel). I totally forgot about that book. Reserving it at the library right now.

Yay, I was going to mention that one too! That book is brilliant and amazing, and I'm not sure I can ever read it again. I don't think it was actually written as "YA" or at least it wasn't marketed that way in countries other than the US. But, given the loose guidelines for YA in this column, it totally counts.

I love everything about his laugh, but the best thing is that he really doesn't smile at all when he's laughing. Which means you've got those intense eyes and the lunatic sounds coming out of his mouth, but no actual joy on the face. It's terrifying.

Oh thank God. Obviously Dawson would have access to the materials necessary to produce that replica head in Capeside. I hear there's a bustling film industry there.

So, you haven't read the article, but you "expect better of the AV Club?" You actually have no idea whether Hyden automatically wrote him off as a creep. Spoiler alert (in case you ever get around to reading the article instead of just "lazily and ignorantly" writing it off)! He didn't!

I don't think I've seen these episodes in their entirety. Someone please tell me that's a Joey mask up there. It is seriously disturbing.

Actually, in Benji's case, they did address his sexual preference directly. It's just that at the time, he was in denial about his homosexuality. He talked about having broken up with his fiancee (or presumed fiancee?) after returning from his mission, and feeling sort of lost after that.

The Eye of the Dragon is actually sort of a kids book. SK wrote it for his own kids. It's still Stephen King, but it's not really gruesome or particularly scary.

I agree that this show does focus on the performance more than the off-stage storylines, which I totally appreciate. In fact, I often skip through the rehearsal segments because some of the interview/interaction with partner/choreographer stuff is so fakey.
