I'm afraid I have socialist leanings that mean yes, I do think she has some responsibility for running her business model in an ethical and moral way. Other people who are just "running a business" using the cheapest labour available include everybody managing child sweatshops in poor countries. There's a point at…

No, it was not a free show, although she was just starting trying to be a solo artist and figuring out how to gig that way and so on. But no, professional show, in pretty decent-sized venue in London (the same one she's using on this tour, actually).

Yeah, I agree with this. The one gig of hers I did go to see, she had a group of dance/stage performers with her, and we the audience were asked to pay them through donations in a bucket that was passed around. That… irked me.

How did she raise money to cover these specific costs, though? Since when does the cost of an album implicitly include the cost of touring it as well? If that were the case, people would be up in arms about having to pay for tickets for the gigs at all.

As someone who did indeed fund her Kickstarter (though only to the level of getting a physical cd of the album), I'm quite confused as to how I should feel as well. On the one hand, I see the tour as completely separate from the Kickstarter, and if she'd chosen to tour in a travelling portacabin with only herself…

"Dear Diary, today I was pompous and my sister was crazy" still wins for me, for both context-less silliness and the actual delivery.

Heh, I made the exact same decision because I love Unfinished Business and don't actually want to see how many people hate it… but Slap Bet's the obvious fun substitution that might just remind me why I used to love HIMYM so much.

Yeah, that's the problem with BSG - I loved that episode, and would be reasonably interested by a discussion of it, but the comments would just be a deja-vu-filled bloodbath.

Cool - I might have to try that some day. I don't think I even know anyone who owns the dvds to borrow them off, though… hmm.
