@LurkyMcLurkerson:disqus oh god, I knew those Dollhouse viewers too. I have a friend who I honestly can't talk to about Joss and feminism now because she is just on such a totally different page from me. Dollhouse was one of my biggest educations on how people can take away entirely varying and apparently completely

Vogon Niska. I like it.

Braeburn are the best: crunchy, sweet but with an edge. Royal Gala are an acceptable substitute if one doesn't want any sharpness.

I think it's a half-and-half: Jayne trying to keep Mal sweet by an obvious show of apology, to stop Mal from telling everyone else. So partially motivated by good feelings (you know, realising he actually does owe some kind of penance), but also partly motivated by the usual Jayne self-interest.

I can sometimes find them tiresome, but that 'yep. He's dead' one is just perfect, in its comic timing as in its silliness.

Perfectly stated. Mal is scary, and I think we tend to forget that in our rush to describe enjoyable characters as 'badass.' I'm inclined to say no-one should get the label who can't be considered terrifying from some angles. (Particularly the angle of the man in front of him he's about to kill.)

I love the way food is treated in this series. The apples are obviously highlighted here, just as the strawberries were in the first episode, as a rare and delightful treat of fresh fruit. And this isn't unearned - we spend a lot of time with the crew in or around the galley, watching them eating protein-bar birthday

Yes yes! Oh, the sadness that they could not, in fact, clone Mal…

I certainly shouldn't encourage other people to encourage me to keep talking… especially about Whedon shows. I may have forged a best friendship over years of Angel emails. Ahem.
