I was on holiday in a rented apartment on my own, and I just listened to the whole of UP on my shitty little ipod speakers and sort of waltzed around the kitchen while cooking cheapo noodles.

Agreed, because the most awesome thing in the song is that guitar coming in. (Especially turned up loud, with headphones in.)
Electrolite is the best. (Okay, no it's not, I can't make a best of list DON'T MAKE ME TRY…)
Automatic has an amazing mood. It does something for me that most albums would love to do but rarely succeed at - makes me remember it as a whole, and as that whole being at the quality of the best of. Like, I literally tend to forget that Monty Got A Raw Deal/Ignoreland/Star Me Kitten are on there at all and I put…
Yay! Okay, that makes everything better. I realise now I was feeling QI-deprived because I was out of the country while it was airing last year - though I did watch a couple of repeats while I was in New Zealand, a country that clearly appreciates a good show.
Plus, the obvious rejoinder to 'nothing happens' would be the lawnmower incident.
I'm going to have to watch Have I Got A Bit More News For You on Sunday because my mother watching The Mentalist takes precedence in the Friday 9pm slot. Sigh. On the plus side, more Jo Brand (when's QI coming back?).
I have been almost convinced to watch it by it being pointed out to me how several of their songs are blatant rip-offs/homages to Sondheim songs. Which suggests a level of intelligent tv-making far above what I would have expected of animated ponies. But as I said… almost. Not quite convinced enough to actually try it…
I don't like it anywhere near as much as OMWF, if that counts. I do enjoy it a lot… but I think it's a touch over-rated.
Yeah, even though I might have enjoyed these episodes at the time (well, Debasement Tapes at least - Un-American Graffiti stays in my mind as my least favourite episode the show ever did thanks to its heavy-handedness), they are entirely forgettable and don't have any of the strengths of Veronica Mars at its best -…
As with everything on the AVC, I take any issuing of an 'A' (of any level) to mean 'this is seriously fucking quality.' So I have no problems.
I saw an excellent interpretation of it that it is another example of the kids being better than the people watching them (i.e. us), in that they have an opportunity to be voyeuristic, and they are definitely tempted but ultimately too decent to take it. Whereas the control folks and ancient gods and us are watching…
I mostly assumed this too. One of the core planets is 'Sihnon,' right? Looks like the biggest population got the biggest and best planets to play with…
@Scrawler2:disqus and @avclub-94e005c18b383d12a8924d5d1367610d:disqus - I may also be forgetting, but I kind of loved how vaguely that was left. Just Topher, sitting in his box, asking whether he thought up the idea that destroyed the world, and Adelle unable to answer him. Ack.
Shit, now I have that annoying Three Lions song stuck in my head. And it's like 46 years of hurt now. We should really shut up about it once it gets past 50 years… (but we won't.)
Which was pretty much the advice Roger gave Lane re the client dinner: i.e. just relax and let them tell you what to do, because they want to, so long as you don't look like you're waiting for them to do so. If Roger and Don could just pull their fingers out for a day, they could fire half the office and still make…
I once went and gave blood before going out for the evening. It was midwinter and I ended up queuing for the club and I hadn't brought a coat because I couldn't be arsed dealing with the cloakroom queue at the end of the night. I got so cold so quickly that I just kind of lost it and started sobbing in the queue. The…
I kind of wonder how much she believes it herself. I think she does, but she has little or no actual drive for this perfect career she's identified for herself. Have we actually seen her come up with any copywriting ideas?
It's also absolutely correct that of all the constituent nations that make up the UK, England is the one that least perceives the difference between 'England' and 'Britain.' There wouldn't be as many (or any) Union Jacks in the audience nowadays, but I bet if we won there'd still be newspapers touting it as a great…
2) is really the one thing I am happy to overlook because it would just have been quite complicated not to. Marty and Dana both have to sell a certain amount of badassery at the end of the film despite previous earlier attacks, and much as I liked Dana's final exhaustion (was she basically on the edge of death after…
