Hello America by JG Ballard - I read most of his novels & short stories back in the '80s but missed this one somehow - also bought his last book Kingdom Come but it will be on hold as Blood Meridian is next. (I've already read All the Pretty Horses & The Road and am really looking forward to this one thanks mostly to

I abandoned Gravity's Rainbow about 200 pages in also (the first time I attempted it). About 10 years later I muscled my way through those same pages and ended up enjoying it. I thought V was much more difficult to read - maybe I read it when I was too young but Im still not sure what that book was about.

Somebody at work loaned me the first few books before informing me that the series was not finished and the author was not even working on it at the time. I made it through the completed book 9 and then thought I would wait until the series was through before picking it up again. Over ten years later, I have no desire

Leno's joke tonite; "Have you heard of this show, The Walking Dead? Well, it seems a fan shot his girlfriend last night after watching an episode because she did not believe Zombies could actually exist. I don't know about Zombies but this does prove we have reached the End of Time."  Guffaws and Titters all around..

Like Beck I grew up in Southern California and seem to recall Bzooty being a 70's slang for a woman's breasts - but I could be wrong. Still, the phrase does not make sense and I too giggle at it.
