I learned about sex from reading "Promiscuities" by Naomi Wolf.

Agreed. Yeah, I feel like it's just a part of life. You are young and immature (and yet you think you're SO mature) and then you grow up and out of those things. I don't spend time looking back and being embarrassed by my teenage self - everyone has those things. That doesn't mean I enjoy reading about it now. There

I don't know, I think Charlie is a little more awkward and fearful than the normal weird outcast kid. Doesn't he like cry all the time or something? That said, I too hate the molestation epilogue and feel it's tacked on and unnecessary.

@avclub-eea4aec80a343badf2cb4f3aea3f9bf0:disqus Oh I think that's part and parcel of the AVC. I wasn't personally offended . . . I was trying to be funny too (although I really WAS scrubbing out the refrigerator).

I have a full time job. This is the first time I've been awake for AVQ&A in months; I was up late scrubbing out the refrigerator.

She's not really an outcast though. I think she's agreed by all to be the coolest person in the book. At least I remember it that way.

Me too. It is really annoying. I think my friends and I grew out of it by senior year though.

Well, honestly my high school experience was A LOT like this. Like, almost exactly. I was really quiet and reserved and then I became friends with this group of kids who were "alternative" and into Rocky Horror and were all in the GSA and dyed their hair and dressed weird and then I got into all that stuff too. (I am

To be fair, I think that literally everyone reading this site, or who read the book, or who is familiar with this movie, or whatever is the kind of person who thinks all of these are really universal cultural touchstones. I'm not so sure that the broader population feels this way. I mean, in college, I had some really
