I recall the right wing went crazy after spotting "American Sniper" Bradley Cooper at the Democratic National convention. You would have thought someone had trod on their gonads from the painful cries they were producing.

Oh please, for God sake DON'T give this man a Marvel movie! Yuk! Peele has genuine talent. I am expecting great things from him, like this generation's Mike Nichols.
Oh, and a shout-out to 'Girls' alum Allison Williams for co-starring in a 100 million dollar blockbuster movie! I imagine 'Girls' haters' heads are now…
I recall channel surfing and stumbling across it, then three minutes later fled in terror.
Let's recall wrinkly old Rupert Murdoch is currently banging Mick Jagger's ex-wife. If someone's got enough wealth a russet potato with toothpick legs could pass himself off as 'sexy'.
These days "boorish womanizing boss" = Trump.
I've read of several series caught off guard with characters who inadvertently resembled the current president and are now suffering negative effects from it. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was working late night on election night filming one of the early episodes with the new…
In the season finale of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend there's a brief (creepy) reference to Sixpence None The Richer’s “Kiss Me.” Now the same song comes up here. That's a twenty year old song. How did this obscure little ditty become a cultural reference?
Wasn't there a movie out recently that had to do with the unhealthy fetishization of SNL? Mike Bribiglia's "Don't Think Twice". I can think of several actor/comics whose fans are always proclaiming "You should be on SNL!" and I have to wonder WHY? SNL is to comedy in 2017 as aging vaudeville performers on the Ed…
"America's got talent" is a cheesy American clone of a cheesy global franchise. Yes, there's such a show as "India's got talent" and "Serbia's got talent".
Goth euro-punk rockers is soooooo last decade. If they wait much longer they can market the film as a costume period piece.
Someone ought to tell SNL alums that merely mugging for the camera and acting obnoxious is not necessarily 'comedy'. This show is a couple beats short of late Jerry Lewis levels of self-indulgence.
Unfortunately he's pretty on-the-nose. I've been trying for three seasons to like this show, I've really really tried. But they make it impossible.
Hah, the first time I read your post I read 'blandness' instead of 'blindness'. Time to go clean my reading glasses.
This sounds like its likely to warp history into a pretzel shape to give us a standard good guy/bad guy narrative.
The most important line in the review is "Under normal circumstances, this wouldn’t be funny." Lithgow is not my cup of tea, he seems to have fallen into the trap of constantly resurrecting his imperious fool character from '3rd rock from the sun', a gag that's more than 20 years old now.
The difference between color-blind casting and whitewashing is like the difference between erotica and pornography. You know it when you see it. This is just the latest in a string of high profile whitewashing incidents in recent films. Tilda Swinton as a Tibetan monk? Did China request they 'dissappear' the Tibetan…
Get a life, as long as you're not Asian heritage looking for a job in acting.
Superhero shows seem to have become the new police procedural on TV. Self-referential story lines lifted from other near-identical products recycled in an endless loop. This series sounds a bit like the superhero version of "T.J. Hooker".
I've all but stopped watching NBC, I can't recall what shows I liked on ABC. And CBS is following the same pattern. Fox at least has Bob's Burgers for a half hour's viewing pleasure.
I can think of live action comedies where the shows' faults are offset by the obvious fun the actors are having in their roles. The fun becomes infectious. I wouldn't have thought that this fun could be transferred over to an animated show.
EVERYTHING has subtext. The most innocuous stuff often has the most pernicious underlying social theory subtext. Barbie, 50 Shade of Grey, NCIS, superhero movies. Viewers who deny there are underlying social worldviews in these products are most susceptible to their influence.
