Hell, I think Season 2's winner (Ilan) is pretty inexplicable. This has been happening as long as Top Chef has been happening. The only difference is that this time the aggrieved runners up aren't also white males (cf. Sam, Stefan), so the optics get iffy about who the producers 'want' to win.

Sartre is smartre but Scooby-Doo can doo-doo.

It's the way he goes around collecting accolades intended for Chris Hardwick.  Such a faker.

"I didn't do it."

"So if you like Rocky, and you like lavish musicals….who ARE you?"

He would've been absolutely perfect as Jack Reacher.  Still pissed that didn't happen.

Yeah, it seems to come down to, lots of people write parenting books, so C+.

Yeah, Community went from being one of my favorite shows of all time to something that still has four unwatched episodes on my TiVo, with no real urgency to get to them.  Only Modern Family has fallen as far, as fast.

Dammit, that's right, I was really hoping for a Toby-Scranton Strangler reveal.  Or even just a stray newspaper laying around in the background, with a headline about another unexplained strangling in the New York slums.

Any argument that Ellie Kemper is the late-seasons Office MVP?  Her slow-dawning understanding that those were her (expertly cast!) birth parents was by far the finale's best double-barreled assault of humor and emotion.

I like them both, but Tosh succeeds in making me feel bad about laughing at something way more than Jeselnik does.

I am going to hide the AVClub from my wife today, or else she may not get anything done.

Leonards Part 1 through 5 are still classified.

To each their own, I guess - for me, Nothing But Time, Speed the Collapse, Breathing Underwater, and Clone are four of my favorite Metric tunes.  But I'll grant that it's more of an Emily showcase than the previous ones, and the rest of the band seems a bit more of a nonentity - the production is pretty glossy and

Youth is my least favorite song on Synthetica, for what it's worth, by a decent margin.  Not that it's awful, I just don't replay it much at all.  If you liked Fantasies you'll probably dig the new album a lot.

Help I'm Alive is a bit played out but the acoustic version is a good call; Emily's voice is so gorgeous in any intimate setting that it's worth taking a couple minutes to appreciate.

@ Lucifer's Peaches, you are right, good shows will continue to get made, but it'll be different than what we have today.  We won't have 20 years - OK, 8-9 years - of the Simpsons that we all commonly draw upon as a shared touchstone of youth.  We won't have a decade of watching Cosby kids gets awkwardly older, of

@ Lucifer's Peaches, I think we should care deeply whether they remain profitable, but it's likely futile.  The dirty little secret that Todd's article hits on is that the great shows don't make money.  A network that did nothing but run first-run Justified, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, type shows seven nights a week won't

I think you should call it a Niceness Scale, given how you calibrated it.
