True that. John had a lot more time to shape (and/or fuck up) Dean and Dean has never shaken off his inner-John completely. Agreed on the church thing - that scene never seemed that earth-shaking to me - maybe I need to re-watch it - it was a bit underwhelming, particularly once we saw the spectacular (for this show's

But that he does get to keep doing spit-takes and funny crying.

Fellatio Del Toro! Seriously, will miss these guys and Dear God, I'm glad Anthony Michael Hall is gone. He was the unfunny lead weight dragging down every scene he was in, man. Now we can have 5 more episodes of crackling hijinx with Shawn, Gus, Lassie, Jules, Henry, and Woody.

And gassy. Dean's diet and those drawn-out bendy compressive moves would definitely be uncomfortable for whoever was behind him.

Dean lives in more of a black-and-white world than Sam. There are no nuances to rejection for him. Oh shit, I think I can relate!

Maybe the soul-less Sam of season 6 is closer to the real Sam than we would like. Even though Dean is the one who spent 40 years (or whatever is was) in Hell as Alastair's torturer and another year of hell-level survival in Purgatory, he still somehow maintains equilibrium, still loves pudding, still loves somebody

Ditto on the great sheriff, continuing the show's tendency to have really cool women in that role (Linda Blair, Martha Plimpton, Sheriff Jody). I loved her doughnut scene with Dean (a macho guy with a sweet tooth is pretty irresistible) and her subjective perspective of the "cupping" treatment. That scene had the

…while dropping his pants!!

"Behind!" "Behind!"

Yes, flipping the jigger was awesome!

Nigeltde - I agree that a Lucifer/Michael redux wouldn't be as effective as some other Dean-driven growth in the internal mythology of the series. I'm thinking back to when Dean became a Reaper and when he had to live a kind of Hunger Games existence in Purgatory, not to mention his time as Alastair's Torturer in

I thought it was just me on the clunky dialogue. I usually don't pick up on stuff like that, but there were a couple of times where the actors seemed extremely stiff and awkward. The blocking and editing of the initial fight scene also seemed somehow "off," even with John Badham (yay, War Games!) at the helm.
Crap,

I must be in the minority, but that beard thing was horrible. It was barely one step up from douchey, Chuck Norris-type facial hair. I like my Dean clean-shaven, which has the effect of drawing your eye to his mouth…
Ummmm, what was I saying?
Oh, the beard. Not a fan, although I can see why it was an effective parallel

Are we shipping Isobel and the doctor? I know he made a mess of the dating thing that day at the town fair, but he's an awfully decent chap. They have a lot in common and he's a man that wants to see Isobel out there doing stuff, pitching in, using her compassion and her intelligence, to be part of the solution - and

While it sucks to lose two awesome action women (of color) on our TV screens - Joss Carter & Nikita Mears - in such a short space of time, I hope it bodes well for the future of television programming & casting. New faces, like "leftenant" Abbie Mills (and former Nikita techie, Sonya) are making shows like Sleepy

Totally. (And I couldn't get stupid Disqus to accept my blank lines, so it all went to cock, so to speak.)

You cannot dangle Seth Gabel in front of me and expect me to get any work done the rest of the day. *stares longingly out frosted window*

Tonight they dine in HELL!

As long as it is accompanied by a big argyle sock with my name on it. A sock
OF COCK.
Damn you, AVClub, you've infected me now.

Yes, this! The backstory scales are starting to tip in Crane's favor a bit now, which was why Abbie's sister was so important at the beginning. The two girls in the woods, seeing something they shouldn't have seen, was really compelling and on pretty much equal drama footing with the resurrected Crane, especially
