I understand why people don't like the idea of having unmanned machines killing people, but they're a lot better at avoiding collateral damage than what previous technology was capable of.

Idea for Hannibal's second season: same cast, Second Punic War.  Might improve ratings.

Game of Thrones spoilers if you still haven't watched that episode

I could see this being a Stephen King book.

I was really hoping that the Doctor's little spiel about having gotten "too big" was meta-analysis of the show's problems, but series seven doubled down on all the things that made the previous season problematic.  I don't have much faith Moffat can right the ship but having a new Doctor is as good a chance as any.

Later in the season, watch out for the "Maeby is a studio executive" music cue/theme thing getting lyrics… sort of.

I didn't like Utopia.  I thought it was pretty much the definition of "style over substance."

To my privileged ass, the biggest first-world problem I have about China is that they aren't producing more high-quality historical dramas.  Chinese history is just so fascinating; there's thousands of phenomenal stories waiting to be adapted.

Everyone should go and torrent Black Mirror right away.  It'll just be you engaging with the themes of easier and instant communication in the information era!

One way in which The Office followed closely to the original: the quality of the deleted scenes.  They're not quite as good (mostly because the scenes that got cut from the original were done for tone reasons rather than being less funny), but there's an absolute wealth of material that was snipped from each episode,

I'm not sure if the Penguins need to make adjustments.  Analysis in hockey is so results-dependent that a coach rejigging the fourth line will be called "a masterful move" if he wins and "a terrible blunder" if he loses, even though that probably had little to do with the results.  Should the Penguins stop making bad

I think people vastly over- and under-rate teams in the playoffs.  Hockey might be played in units of games, but it's a completely meaningless sample size, even as the nature of the playoffs leads them to be over-analyzed even more.  I don't see a Pittsburgh team that's lost, I see one that has played two mediocre

I should point out that inferring anything from two games is bound to be misleading.

Cersei also inherited her father's consuming self-hatred, and it comes into full bloom in AFFC.  She's wonderful.

The books are quite "deep", and essentially are a revisionist take on the fantasy novel; critiquing and analyzing the longstanding assumptions of the genre, and subverting traditional plots and stock characters.  Not much of that comes across in the show, unfortunately.  I've compared them to the work of Paul

I agree.  Bringing a visual element to things makes them much more real.  All of the stuff in the HotU would be very obvious, imo.  I actually really liked how the show dealt with it.

Interesting.  I do agree with you on some points: I don't think the show has managed the through-lines of each individual's story all that well (in large part due to the patchwork approach of the episodes), so some of the impact of everything coming together is lost.  Not sure what you mean by "Tywin's involvement"

How so?
