Holy shit.  I could not have imagined a more cruelly sadistic way for the Leafs to lose.

I'm not sure why never wanting to hear YOLO again made me more millenial…

I was always sort of confused by the common perception that Michael Scott was a more likeable version of David Brent, and rewatching some old episodes of the American version have reminded me of this.  Michael Scott is a dick in ways that David Brent could never imagine.  They started softening him up after season

I think it's because the black comedy of the serial killer stuff is a somewhat jarring shift from the tragedy of season four.  I think season five is awesome.

Either that letter or Manderly's pies were the high point of ADWD.

He's playing with kittens!!!

As someone pointed out on What's On Tonight, the combination of George RR Martin and Michelle Maclaren is a doozy, and probably one of the best possible writer/director combos for TV.

Hoo boy.  That finale really did feel like badly written fanfiction.  And like I predicted, the Jeff/Annie stuff was really similar to season two of Homeland.

But, as I've pointed out before, Harmon has also done the opposite - see repeatedly going to the Jeff/Annie well, putting Chang "back into a position of authority", doing sequels to the most popular episodes…

So it sounds like the season finale is essentially the same as what I thought of the back half of season 2 of Homeland.  Though I suppose Todd's reaction to the two (and specifically the pandering) was quite different.

Ehhh… I think it's a considerable stretch, but it could be argued.  I'd certainly say that the worst elements of season four were very present in season three, especially the second half.  I don't think that season four and the second half of season three are that far apart in terms of quality.

There were still plenty of fans cheering to the very end.  More than I anticipated.

Ottawa is getting ridiculous puck luck, and it is very enjoyable.

It don't even really have a counterpoint.  It's a fun, amiable, movie.  It's quotable and great to watch with friends.  I just don't know how it became the internet standard for "best comedy ever."

I feel this is an appropriate time to point out that I think The Big Lebowski is overrated.

I find it kind of bizarre how you seem to think the American version was so "groundbreaking" in this respect, seeing as its cringe and dramedy aspects are significantly toned down from the original.
