Given the way people around here have been reacting to Parks, I can imagine that could be a large part of it.

This is an overreaction.

I was going to post a long-ish critique of TDKR, but then you slipped in "You have my permission to buy," so I giggled and forgot about it.

Some bigshot TV producer who is somehow working for ALL THE NETWORKS, cable included, offers you the chance to become the showrunner of one TV show.  Which do you pick and why? 

Looking back over the breadth of season 2 so far, I think it's kind of embarrassing how poorly the creative team behind Homeland has written its female characters.

Especially considering there have been only 5 episodes in 2012.

Some people really like Parks.  That's OK.

Yeah.  Especially considering Craig got nominated for Best Commenter.

It's got some good melodies and is pretty catchy.  Nothing to be sad about.

There are lots of people (including here, unfortunately) who ascribe to the philosophy of "if a reviewer has a different opinion than me, it's because they're just not as smart as me" (often asserting, condescendingly, that they just didn't understand it).

It also doesn't help that everything not made by the CBC is geared mostly for export.

That, and everything made by the CBC aims for "safe" before "funny".
