My favorite background gag is from the episode where Marge becomes a cop.  Homer is arrested and then eats Hans Moleman's last meal before being sent to the electric chair, and then the next scene is Homer and Marge arguing in their bedroom, and then the lights flicker.  I don't think I caught that until at least five
