"I watch a show like Revolution or Terra Nova" I think I may have pinpointed your problem…
Yep. I haven't even intentionally looked at a Spin cover in probably ten years, but back in the mid-90s, they were my introduction to the world of "music that doesn't get played on the radio." This was kind of a big deal for 15-year-old me in those days before the internet was a thing, so they'll always hold some good…

I think you have to get attuned to her style. I didn't think she was funny at all the first time I heard her, but now she's probably in my top 3 favorite comedians. Check out her album "Unwanted Thoughts Syndrome." That definitely helped to get me hooked, but it's true that she's not for everyone.

Huh. I knew about the ICP angle, but I didn't know he was including Phish. As a die-hard fan of that band, I will read this with some interest.

I too enjoyed the Ehrmantraut aspect, but what didn't ring true to me about the whole thing was that it didn't seem like a viable course of action for Quinn to threaten someone like Estes, like Estes is not going to do anything. "Oh, you're threatening to kill me, the deputy director [or whatever]? Eh, I guess I'll…

Yeah, I agree with all of this, especially the action-movie-ness of it. That whole cave setpiece was ridiculously over-the-top, with Gandalf suddenly transforming into a sword-wielding badass, dwarves turning into martial arts masters, and everyone riding a big piece of bridge down the mountain to stupidtown.

Thanks everyone! Rereading my post, it comes off a bit more critical than I meant it to. It wasn't that the show had "no redeeming qualities" whatsoever, just nothing at all that made me want to keep watching. My perception of it seemed more out of step than I would have expected with the opinion of so many people…

I'm glad he mentioned that Daly/Mantzoukas episode. I don't hear it mentioned much, but for some reason it made me laugh more than just about any other episode I can remember. I always chalked it up to me just being in a weird mood at the time, so it's good to hear I wasn't crazy and Aukerman really liked it too.…

OK, so I just started the first season of this show (the guy above talking about AV Club synchronicity ain't kidding). I'm looking for some advice.

Rider Strong sure sounds like a porn star name to me…
