Why does the town appear to be a college? Why is Jonas so old? Why is there a space ship? Why is Meryl Streep's role substantial? Why is everything in color?

Yeah, it wasn't until I woke up and remembered the blah blah blah "I loved you instantly" nonsense that I put those pieces together. The editing made it feel like a cliffhanger, but it was probably just meant to be cute. Which is EXACTLY what I want from my news reporters.
