I watch the show for the characters AND the mystery plots. Also, I think that the former works better when mixed more evenly with the latter. I did think yesterday's episode was great, but the first one didn't work that well, I don't think.

So you expected political subtlety? You just described the political ideas of most movies anyway, this was just an exaggerated version of that.

Look, I'm excited for Gone Girl too, but comparing it to the Godfather almost 9 months before it comes out seems a little ridiculous. (Or a lot)

Probably did, I was distracted during that scene.

Yeah, I know all that, just wondering whether the show will try and explain his absence at all.

I like how we can just slap "wars" after any random word and it's a show.

Gotcha. It seemed like they were just going to ignore him, but then he was Obi-Wan Kenobi and I was confused as to why he wasn't back.

I know I could find this out with a little digging, but did Peirce die last season? Or what's the show's reason for him being gone? I didn't watch the last season. Is there anything else I should know for this season? It all seemed pretty self-explanatory besides Peirce.

Still exciting they're finally releasing an animated film, even if it is Anderson. I hope it opens the door for more releases.

Makes sense I guess, still kind of silly to me, but I know it's not your guys' fault. Glad you are at least doing a full season write-up.

Yeah, I feel like most people on this site will have seen the episode by then.

I guess I knew that at some level, but I get all my TV through torrents so I didn't even really think about it. Still though, you'd think they'd recognize that most AV Clubbers will have seen it by then.

True. Honestly don't remember that movie much, I just remember appreciating that he didn't freak out at everything like Stew, and was able to laugh at some of the things happening, though not to an uncomfortable level like Alan.
However, the third movie turned me off to the series so much, I doubt I'll ever watch it

Why no Sherlock season 3 review?

Agreed, I just meant that's one of the only times he's played the asshole fratty types most people associate with him, and he wasn't really that much of an asshole, he definetely was better than Alan or Stew.

I'm really glad we got to read so much about this for the past few weeks.

I manage to think about that every-time a film I want to see comes out. "Wonder what Ebert would have thought?"

It would be stupid if they didn't make a lot of this stuff look fun, because otherwise, why would anyone do it? It would be awesome for awhile, until things would inevitably go south like they obviously will in the film.

"Dicks, assholes, and pussies" from Team America.

I think the fanbase even on the AV Club is really vocal but also really small. I myself had only barely heard of the praise and didn't know the extent of it before these end of the year lists.
