I'm not sure if Elsa is the hill that gay folks want to rally on. Because her "letting it go" actually did have horrible consequences for her immediate family and her entire nation.

It's possible that someone doesn't know the difference between 1 in 5 and 5%.

IF we accept the statistic as true… if 1 in 5 are gay and 1 in 10 feel safe to come out, that means half of all gay kids feel safe to come out. Factor in the "most teens are an emotional wreck who don't feel safe enough to try out a new style of socks" factor…. then that's not horrible.

It's a funny quote, but for me, it's true.

JEng comments a lot on the South Park threads. (S)he seems to think that South Park is an intentional metaphor of… Japanese racism? Or something? It's quite an interesting thing to behold.

I remember that story. (Never saw the movie.) It creeped the fuck out of pre-teen me. If I recall, there's a vivid description of the thing pulling a person between the slats of the floating dock. Blurgh.

President is too narrow a sample space. There have been Italian American Congressfolks and Supreme Court justices. They are well represented in halls of power.

I think finding the "exact" measurement of an event that happened thousands of years ago is a bit of a fool's errand.

I agree, but Joss was determined to make the second one shorter than the first. That led to some pacing hiccups. (But, for me, they weren't enough to derail my enjoyment of the movie.)

You'd also recognize it if you're a fan of the 70s soul group The Chi-Lites.

    Here ya go:

Makes sense… it reminded me of There There a lot.

Couldn't agree more. He makes a good foil for Stewart, but a bad straight man.

Who wouldn't? They're phenominal. We have tickets to see them live in August. Been waiting for this for 12 years; the previous show we had tickets for got cancelled for some odd reason…

    Check your math, Fred.

I don't think that was the point. The point is we all have our prejudices and blind spots, so we should be willing to forgive them in others.

Very good analysis. During the middle run of episodes, my wife and I couldn't wait to see what happened next, but at the end we were puzzled and frustrated.

Yeah, she carries the same expression for 90% of the show.

Fuck you lady — that's what stairs are for!

Yeah. Again, if you want to mock religion, fine. There's plenty in the Bible that's mockable (and I'm Christian). But don't grab a children't book where the elephant is drawn too big to fit through the door of the ark (or whatever), and use that as your basis for mockery.
