I'm so glad the absence of Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford was mentioned. The announcer kept touting a special tribute for PotO's 25th anniversary, and then it was nothing more than what all the other evening's performances were. I kept waiting for those two to come out, and then nothing happened. Very

I fully expected Vicki to come back since there seems to be a renewed focus on Matt these past two episodes. I was disappointed she didn't show up. Not because I cared for the character or for the actress, but because I like Matt/Zach Roerig and what they're doing with his story lately.

As soon as Bonnie realized she was dead, I thought, "I wonder how many A.V. Club commenters are jumping for joy right now."

Whatever Happened to Alternative Nation? was so great. I really should start reading Hyden's stuff on Grantland…

I have to say that your "Fringe" reviews were integral to my post-viewing experience to help me process what I just watched (especially after the really great episodes), and contributed to the affection I have for that show. And that's just one of the many things you've written that I enjoy. I can't wait to read what

"Keith had a cool new opportunity and invited all his friends" is the perspective I choose to take, too. And, when the new venture is announced it's hopefully just as great as what we love when they were part of The A.V. Club and a community will build up around it.
But, that's not to take away from who's left and

The Gretchen reference makes me wish I could Like this comment more than one time.

This episode had me feeling all kinds of feelings. Jeremy Sisto's "You keep moving the basket" (basket? I can't remember the exact sports analogy now) hurt my heart.

"You don't know how I leave" made me melt. And I'm too old to melt over a teenage romance, but my goodness that line reading was fantastic,

I can pledge to leave at least 10 comments an episode if it makes things look good. Seriously. How do we make this happen?

Very good observation! I didn't make that connection.

@avclub-011d0b4fe6835bb3d37ef4e0ea713de6:disqus Yes! I too want Elena to start having fun. I liked the version of Elena we saw in "The Five" when Damon taught her how to hunt. I want more of her.

For all the talk about Eleana's "agency," I guess I never considered how much Caroline has until that scene. I'd like to see how she'll change 200 years from now.

Seriously, I wish they'd cover the entire series of "Greek" (although it's probably not considered a classic - yet).

Oh! And, I'll take the return of Grams, real or hallucinated, any day.

I thought it was interesting that when Klaus identified where Caroline stood re: the cure, the moment (to me) was revelatory, but also not surprising. Of course she wants to stay a vampire, but it was still something to hear someone say it.

I can't believe, with all the Bonnie hate in these parts, that no one yet has mentioned the best line of the evening (courtesy of Damon):
