Due in large part to my love of Robotech, I ended up flying for the Navy.  I thought since Roy's plane was painted in the same scheme as the old VF-84 Tomcats, they must know something.  I'm still waiting to get high enough of a security clearance to get read into the Veritech program…

Based on my avatar alone, I'm with you.

If you're trying to say war sucks and we shouldn't do it, I'm with you 100%, but that article really proves my points about the unprecedented level of discretion and precision we're using in our air operations, drone and otherwise.  The article says clearly that the information that supposedly condemns us is third

Do you really think that's what happens?  US military people intentionally target ambulances and funeral processions because…why?  We're just bad?  We have ammo to spare?  We want the war to go on forever, which is what will happen if we do stuff that lets the enemy believe they're righteous without any

Big difference between being prepared to be killed and stupidly exposing yourself to danger.  No one in war is trying to fight fair, they're trying to survive and get the job done, usually in that order.  I see what you mean in that drone technology removes even the pretense that the guy on the other end has a chance

By the title, I thought this one would be about Uhura ditching Spock and choosing a new boyfriend through some sort of tryout process.

I'm all for it if it means I can get shitfaced and screw around to my heart's content and call it and expression of my newfound polyamory, though I'm not sure how far that would fly with the Mrs. no matter how many links to articles I send her.

I didn't meet the girl I got hitched to until I was 30 (not universally considered young, I guess) and remember feeling a little like this guy.  Looking back on it, that was pretty much entirely self induced.  No one was on my ass for me to get married or settle down (except a couple soon-to-be-ex-girlfriends); no

I might see this now just because you make it sound a bit more interesting.  I get the irony, and I think it serves a useful purpose both here and in movies like War of the Worlds and Signs because those are the closest movies I've seen to capturing in a way relatable to First World audiences the confusion and terror

Man, Lions for lambs was just a couple shrill monologues and blatant distortions of facts from being good.  That movie was a huge disappointment for me.

I think that's what Spielberg was going for in War of the Worlds; not so much the insurgency thing but the refugee experience and the experience of civilians being caught in the middle of a war where one side has weapons that can reach out of the sky and blast individual people seemingly at random that the other side

I've heard from a Vietnam vet / Silver Star winner who was in one of the
first units equipped with the M-16 that the first ones had aluminum
bolts that actually bent out of shape or expanded if they got too hot

period than they did in testing, so

I agree. If it's propaganda, what was it supposed to influence people to do?  I always thought that's what made propaganda distinct from other media; it presents only one side of an issue, usually in an extreme way, to influence the viewers' thoughts and actions.  When companies do it, it's advertising, when the
