Uncle Bill was awesome… Do they have cigarettes in heaven? I don't think so… I don't think so…

Is that what they're calling it now?

Hold on a minnit there! "Shaking Through" is a beautiful song and don't you forget it!

Well Viva Hate had Durutti Column's Vini Reilly on guitar (the second greatest guitarist moz has ever worked with) so it has that going for it.

"Baby I'm a Star" wasn't filler?

Never liked album closer "The Overload" though I don't know if I would call it "filler."

Too similar sounding to "Everybody Hurts"… Though I eventually found a few gems on it, listening to 'Monster' for the first time was a depressing experience. Ruined my day.

Hold on now there … I effing love "Letter Never Sent"

Random observation…
Robert Plant's vocal abilities on the first 5 1/2 albums are a thing of wonder…. I was among the thousands of singers in crappy high school bands who tried and disastrously failed to emulate the man in his prime (our butchery of "The Rover" from Physical Grafffiti was particularly heinous)… When his

I'm cryin' on the inside…

Look who thinks he's Mister Clever Dan…

No mention yet of bacon infused vodka? Not the crap you can get at liquor stores, but when you're at a bar on the lower east side and there's an actual jar of vodka with bacon in it… I ordered it in a martini… They served it chilled with a Slim Jim sticking out. Good times.

Fair enough, but it still really was an Excellent Rectangle!

Anyone else a big enough S2T fan to post a Ten Favorite Songs list? No particular order:
Lies About the Sky
The Hair Pillow
Saddest Day of My Life
She Might Be Waking Up
Nine Fingers On You
Red House
Beauty Strike
XFTS
Hit Liquor
Day Ditty

Always dug the loungey track with Lena Karlsson singing.

Their cover of "Animal Wild" was weird in all the right ways… Ever heard their version of "Shake Dog Shake" from the D.C.-centric Cure tribute album 'Give Me the Cure'?

Used to cover "Red House" acoustic back in the late 90's when I used to play coffee houses (yes, it went over about as well as you'd expect). Love that song… Best version IMO was the live-to-2-track recording they did for the "Hit Liquor" single (which, come to think of it, was just as big a "head fucking non-hit" as

"9 Fingers On You"!!! I had forgotten they made a video for this… Closest thing to a straightforward rocker on the album and still weird as hell (chorus: "Girl, you've got to hustle for your muscle machine")… Still have it on my "gym" mp3 playlist. Great song.

Is that what they're calling it now?

…was that the scene where he starts throwing chairs because no one would comply with his request for everyone to give him "one particle of clothing" ?
