Always loved "Eric's Trip"… and "Hoarfrost" is my favorite track off 'A Thousand Leaves'

That Starbucks SY compilation is actually pretty damned good as an intro to the band… Not perfect (no "Dirty Boots" or "Schizophrenia"), but it's got enough gems to hook curious newbies for sure.
Senior year in HS our English teacher was about to retire so she let me talk her into showing the class 'A Clockwork Orange' over 2 days (to fit it all in I fast forwarded through scenes of The Minister of the Interior's checking out the prison and Alex being transferred from the prison to the treatment facility - but…
And btw congratulations!
If Stephin Merritt can hit those notes with his baritone, you should be able to nail it… Or to be safe do what I do before acoustic sets and tune the guitar down a half step… High notes are way easier to hit and pretty much no one will notice
Played that song on the guitar to my wife the night I proposed to her… "Marry me… Marry me…"
So did I… DYSLEXICS UNTIE!
That the Punpkins failed to include "Not Worth Asking" (b-side on the "I Am One" 45) on their expanded 'Gish' re-issue is a travesty… Just thought I'd throw that in…
I dug Verve from the get-go (particular "Blue" and "Slide Away")… Lotsa people know who they are now though because "Bittersweet Symphony"…
The KoStars album is one of my all time faves… A little-known 90's treasure that deserved more attention for sure… Was always disappointed they never recorded a follow-up.

Oh, man… Try getting through "What's Good" after losing a loved one to disease. "What good is a disease that won't hurt you? Why, no good, I guess, no good at all." … "What's good? Life's good. But not fair at all."
I toasted him last night with a shot of 18YO Glenlivet as I played "Power of Positive Drinking"… Not sure it was appropriate considering he had been clean & sober for years… Guess I could have toasted his memory with "Egg Cream"
Someone should search the man's hard drive is all I'm saying.
Eureka! … Hugo Largo! Stipe and Mimi Goese should have recorded a whole album of stream-of-consciousness duets
Well look who thinks he's Mister Clever Dan…
Here The Cheat, have a trophy!
The way he loses the beat when he say "but it probably is" makes me laugh out loud
I remember reading 'Firefly' when it came out… There's a scene where a 5-year-old girl blackmails a man into deflowering her. Yes, you read that right.
