Agreed.  I too was blindsided.  But now, in hindsight:  there were so many signs.  Lots of foreshadowing even within this specific episode.  I sort of feel like I should have seen it coming.

He wouldn't have to ride it, but that might prove quite gratifying [and freeing] for him; seeing how he can no longer walk.

Catelyn had the worse fate.  Also, it was all visually more disquieting-at least, for me—than even seeing Ned's head get cut off.

One other thing I dislike about it that I forgot to mention earlier was inability to reply to everyone/anyone within the thread.  You can't reply to some comments/commenters for some reason.  It's ridiculous.

It's been a few hours since I watched this episode, and I'm still unnerved and in shock.  (I dare to say that this revelation may have proven to be—at least, for myself—a lot worse than even seeing Ned's head chopped off.)

After the first season and book (I have only read/listened to book one and 1/3 of book two), I figured that Bran grows up to be some dragon-flying/riding wizard who destroys all at the very end in the name of The Starks/Whatever-Other-Alliance.
