This obviously could be wild conjecture, and influenced by the fact that I watched the whole series DVD marathon style my first viewing, but I took the "failings" on the first season as the result of two assumed-by-me facts: JMS had a novel in his mind and only slowly figured how to adapted printed structure into

Thanks so much for the detailed write-up. As one of the seven people who watched the show when it first aired it's also worth sharing the love. Thanks for the write-up and grade, but you mentioned the music and the Quik then skipped the landing? Sheldon with a fork full of spaghetti and cut-up hot dogs half raised as he looks at Amy, and ostensibly the camera/audience slack-jawed in an old-timey bug-eyed "she got me" moment that had me rolling.

I don't want to piss on everybody's parade so I'll only chime in here once. I like the Beek stuff, a nice wackiness that differentiates it from the great Jennifer Grey turn on it's like you know… The premise is serviceable and there are some jokes that land, but…

I wondered if this disaster was covered only to find an A-? There were no laughs. There was nothing clever. Was everyone here sharing a collective high? Nothing but an F baby, I don't pay HBO for this horrendous crap.

(disqus remains broken on the iPad) characters compared to the "needs" of today's broadcast environment.

Did Tom Hanks try to walk off with your lava lamp?

Man, just glossed over the Santa and daughter plots… sorry, it was, as usual, a fun episode, made even moreso by Cummings's line readings and uncomfortable physical tics while trying to talk about the Santa photo.

I enjoyed the write-up, sorry it hasn't entertained you as much as it has me. Little left to comment on or debate here as so many are looking for a show that Person of Interest clearly doesn't plan to be.

Rewatching this one right now so I thought I'd look up this write-up. Not enough credit given to the constant underlying ABBA soundtrack. I started laughing the second it kicked in, and when it gets ratcheted up when the Dean locks them in and again with Fernando at the denouement. Just classic.

Just a simple thank you for a great article. I loved Soap and watched it when it first aired. Back in those days the only entertainment news and gossip I had access to was Tom Shales TV Column notes in The Washington Post. When Soap didn't return to resolve the crazy Season 4 cliffhangers I really wanted to know why.

While I loved the NewsRadio write-ups and discussion, I thought one of the policies here was the coverage was provided by a fan of the show, which also explained the relative ratings. This was a fun episode, a lot of big laughs both in terms of jokes and editing. I would have rated it a B+ (if the rating widget worked

Certainly not as good as last week, and a stronger setup than finish, but I still enjoyed it.
