I think NBC got freaked when they did well in the ratings last week, and decided it had to do something to rankle the fan base. They aim to run this network into the ground, and dammit, they'll do it.

I have no problem with using 70mm format for non "spectacle" pictures. In fact, if it were me, I'd say all pictures should be 70mm…it's the most future resilient format, containing enough image information to outlast several generations of new video formats.
