Sorry, but there is no way Raise the Red Lantern was shot in three strip technicolor.  The process has been completely defunct since 1955, when "Foxfire" was the last U.S. made film in the process, while "The Lady Kilers," was the last international film.

You pretty much nail it.  She's the emperor with no clothes on.  She's not a voice of a generation, so much as a construct being embraced by the media, and sold to us prepackaged as some kind of voice or savior we do not want or need.

But was the original Sex and the City anything to be proud of?  I just saw pre 9/11 relic about crass consumerism and meaningless tawdry sex with precious little to say about women in the late 20th/early 21st century…at least, that was honest.

I think the real shame is gonna be, as fast and high her meteoric rise will be, it seldom lasts.  We've seen it before. Look at Michael Cimino.  Around the time of the Deer Hunter, he was lauded as THE GREAT cinematic visionary, and all that was destroyed by one failure, Heaven's Gate.
