Me! I've been thinking about trying out comics for a while now, but it's not a terribly newcomer-friendly place, so I keep putting it off. So this was fun for me.

I don't know, I'd imagine she's fairly intelligent. Maybe she can't churn out A+ book reports on Faulkner but I'd imagine her life experience would mean she's more savvy than most people her age about this sort of thing.

I know! And weirdly it feels like one of their most cohesive albums.

Building Nothing Out of Something is fantastic, and I like it better than most of their regular albums. It's hard for me to believe sometimes that's it a compilation.

Please chill out. When people are sad, they like to connect with others who are sad about the same thing. No need to read anything else into it.

That's a weird thing to ask. There's nothing wrong with being sad about someone tragically dying, even if you've never met them in person.

This is terrible. I binged on Comedy Bang Bang during a not-great period in my life, and it would always cheer me up when I saw that he was going to be on an episode. Always made me laugh.

Yeah, that makes sense. I read it more along the lines of "This is really dumb, but maybe it'll eventually turn itself into something interesting or innovative." If anything, I think the older generation of media & media consumption was portrayed more negatively than the new stuff.

It's there a little bit, I think. But I thought it was a bit more optimistic - it acknowledged that a lot of new stuff is kinda shitty, but a lot of new stuff is always kinda shitty. That's true in every generation. Give it some time and some good stuff will probably come out of it.

I can totally understand why people would not be a fan of Lost. It was often messy, some of its story arcs would peter out or be awkwardly wrapped up, and some of its characters stagnated in season one. It had a bunch of problems, and I think it's true that a lot of these came to the forefront during season six.

Yeah, lazy probably isn't the right word - risk-averse, maybe? I feel like most of Hollywood's problems come from the fact that they think their audience is way stupider than they actually are, they keep making money, and it turns into a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I just don't really understand why there's usually an assumption that making a movie accessible to the uninitiated has to automatically = making a movie that long-term fans dislike.

Sure, but it seems that people make the nerd/non-nerd dichotomy much bigger than it needs to be, given how successful comic book movies have been recently. There is a lot of room to find a screenwriter in between 'indifferent/hostile towards comic books' and 'so obsessed with backstory that he/she would be incapable

That isn't really a thing anymore though, is it? Pretty much every blockbuster that comes out now is a 'nerd' movie, but everyone goes to see them. Plus, I would bet 99% of the non-nerd audience does not know or care who wrote the screenplay.

Eh, maybe. But I'd guess that a decent number of people who like him (at least recently) first found out about him on a podcast of some sort, where they'd probably form an opinion before they knew what sort of clothes he wears. I'm the last person who'd become a fan of someone based off of retro suits, but I don't

Hopefully he'll be playing the role as Lil' Gary.

I know! The scene where Sam & the Night's Watch get attacked by White Walkers is fine in the show but it's really terrifying in the books. One of my favorite chapters.

Just watch, they'll cut out everything EXCEPT the feasts and then fund all the CGI dragons flying around in the background with a chain of Game-of-Thrones-themed restaurants and other food-related tie-ins.

"Winter has come and now it shall burn," said Daenerys Stormborn, surveying the land that was rightfully hers as she sat astride Drogon. After once again obtaining her dragons, that had once again been stolen, she was finally about to restore peace to the land the only way she knew how, by putting herself in charge.
