    No Regrets
I attended NY Comic Con and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Watched a panel, watched stuff I enjoy with other folks who enjoy the same. Yeah, it is one big promotional thing and it is fun at the same time. I even enjoy watching the recorded panels online, like the one for Hayao Miyazaki last year at San Diego.

I like the visual of Mom, pictured as Frida Kahlo on the closed Mexican factory. Priceless.

    Boring
I thought it was boring, and yes everyone was uninspired. As an artist, I did feel like it was a difficult challenge. Most kids draw, create stuff. What makes a kid continue as an artist, when that time in childhood is over? I thought it was a good point that these folks have a different energy than the Proj

Damn, this is sad stuff. My heart went out to Ryan.

Thanks, the Vulture comments were enlightening.

Yeah I work at a school that is littered with outdoor sculpture. I enjoy it immensely. So yeah, public art can be great fun, thoughtful and controversial. I liked the story of the cows being burned as "faggy art shit" in the previous thread. Let's just say I come from a small town and can relate to being in a place

    horse fellatio

I thought 'sugar tit's' was brilliant.

    Better not to know…
I would like her better if I didn't know she was independently wealthy and well connected. Once I read that she didn't have any music background … well, it's difficult. I like the stuff she produces, but, but but tu tu ugh nevermind. I bored myself.

    Miles? Miles? Where is Miles?
Okay, I must've fast forwarded through Mile's crit. Honestly, I don't remember him after he set fire to the piece of wood. He seemed to have completely disappeared by the end of the show. I was guessing he was the 'surprising' news in the next ep. I couldn't find anything on the website

My thought is that they copy the Project Runway too closely. I think it's lazy. It would have been better if they took the time to think about how they could do the contest different. Art is commercial in different ways - gallery art is just as commercial as anything else. So Judith does get a fail for not recognizing

    hahahahahahaha…..

I actually thought TV Funhouse was hysterical. I have the image of a chicken wearing a vest and shoes imprinted on one of my brain cells forever.

I liked Abdi's piece the best, but I also agree it is a cliche. I am enjoying the show, but last nights episode did start to feel familiar. Oh yeah. It felt like an art class! What surprised me was how nothing was really aesthetically pleasing to look at. That's why I liked Abdi's piece, because it has visual appeal.

    ditto that

Lordy, he even rescued a baby squirrel and showed it to you in his show. He was a sweetheart.

Yes, closet artist, here. I didn't even have to know who that woman was to see that she was indeed a 'proud pussy'. That was kind of hysterical, especially since she was not happy about it! I enjoyed seeing the process of the artists. I actually really liked the fry cook/photographer. I wonder if this experience has

Yes, I'd like to see it reviewed regularly. Nice review of the show.

    charlie rose
never heard of any of this, til I saw a rerun of Charlie Rose. Even Stieg's publisher looked incredibly bored by the end of it. I came away thinking I didn't want to read his books. Seriously. Even the movie they made looked trite. blah blah blah…cool female character…blah blah blah Ugh.

The kid made it sound like it was his own story he was telling.
