The thing that I retain the most affection for him from is his narration in The Royal Tenenbaums, which I think is absolutely perfect and, of course, for which he never appears onscreen.

Pretty sure you're thinking of Mark Lindsay, from Paul Revere & the Raiders.
The Rock's scorpion-man thing in that movie may in fact be the worst CGI I've ever paid to see in a theater.
I don't really have any experience in "the biz" as they say in the biz, but I don't really see how an actor could be underhanded in pursuing a part, though I'm sure there are ways. As a theater producer, I'm more sympathetic to the charge of leaving McTiernan in the lurch, but even when it's happened to me, I can't…
I don't really see why he should be concerned about the feelings of the actors he's competing against. Sometimes you get the part and sometimes you don't- that's just the nature of the profession.
I think he's just uncomfortable with the promotional aspect of being a celebrity, which isn't the worst thing in the world. If an actor is bad to watch on a talk show, that's unfortunate for the talk show host but as long as the actor is entertaining in a movie, I don't see why I should care.
They did claim it was based on a true story, actually. William Blatty's original novel was inspired by the Roland Doe exorcisms.
Well that's a weird name for a horse.
Ohhhh yeah. Jesus, they really just belly-flopped that series as hard as they possibly could.
It's really pretty good, the last 30 seconds aside.
I did see that documentary, actually- I think it aired maybe the weekend before the movie premiered, and I watched it then. I found it to be really effectively spooky, but even as a, what, 14 or 15-year-old, I didn't really think the movie was real, if only because I couldn't imagine it being legal to allow a wide…
Blair Witch, and it's not even close. Paranormal Activity 1's dumbass ending completely deflated everything good about the rest of the movie, and I don't even remember how PA3 ended.
"Hoax", or "marketing campaign"?
As I remember, a lot of the backlash came from people feeling duped from the marketing that the film wasn't "real", which…like, The Exorcist wasn't real either, guys, but people still like it.
I know this movie kinda wound up with a bad rap, but I think it's still pretty goddamn effective. I really love that ending shot with the guy standing in the corner.
But he wouldn’t have necessarily guessed that Voldemort would choose to send Nagini his way instead of using the more obvious, but less dramatic, Avada Kedavra.
Have you considered the fact that it's America's premiere source of men with Confederate flags tattooed on their throats?
I assume the real reason is they figure it's gonna crash and burn after a season anyway, so might as well get in a paid tropical vacation while we're at it.
The "or die" part.
I haven't read the Wheel of Time books since I was in high school, but now that you point it out there are indeed some really strong similarities between the Bene Gesserit and the Aes Sedai.
