I haven't read the Lyonesse books, but my dad (who introduced me to Vance) is a big fan and bought a copy of the first one for me a while back. Time to get it down from the shelf.

@avclub-81e42ebe6b44656990ff91adfd49b5f7:disqus Well, she did it for Sen. Joseph McCarthy. So it's a safe bet.

I was astounded to learn from your post that evangelical minister Billy Graham ran the Filmore and Filmore East! Then I re-read it. Man, that would have been one intriguing alternate-history concept.

Yes, to the Palomar stories. But I pray that no one touches the Maggie/Locas stories. They're perfect the way they are and would only be ruined by transferring them to any other medium. The only good that would come of it would be more money in Jaime Hernandez's pocket, which I'm all for, but maybe there's another way.

I say, old Jam Sandwich, that would be an absolute ripper!

We lost Jack Vance this year. The pain could be eased slightly if one of the cable networks turned his Demon Princes series (The Star King, The Killing Machine, The Palace of Love, The Face, The Book of Dreams) into a series.
I will also accept an animated version of his Planet of Adventure series.

I'm amazed "Dr. McNinja" isn't a poster on the wall of Tracey Jordan's dressing room.

No. I'll never be over Macho Grande.

The irony-upon-irony of THAT, of course, is that the Marvel comics version of Heimdall was created by two Jews.
And anyway, we later learn that the Asgardians are really aliens, so it doesn't matter if they're not Scandinavian-looking.
[Goes and does nerd things.]

Did Tom Baker have a bigger wang? Is that what you're saying here?

Beat me to it.

The real news here is that the Bloodhound Gang is still a thing. I haven't heard anything about these guys since the 90s, and even then they were the audio equivalent of a mild headache. They've gotta be in "Puppet Show (& Spinal Tap)" territory by now.

And yet no Micronauts movie. Or TV show. Just the comic book, decades later.
You can have your horrifying, dystopian future, Varmints.

Wait, did you say something? Hold on… almost finished with this…
[So hard to read AV Club comments when you're also posting on HuffPo].

I would like to say that I feel just awful for Mr. Warren, and that all of these insensitive comments aren't funny at all.
…I would like to say that… but I can't because I'm about to throw up from laughing so hard.

Awesome people like me still refer to them as "les Stromfs."
Like we did when we were into them before they were popular.
Because I am so, so awesome.

I was gonna say, is there a scene where he sniffs a line of coke off of Smurfette's ass?

And what a great voice. No one sounded like her. If her career had begun in the 20s or 30s, she'd have been a terrific radio actress.

I'm so angry about the success of Grown Ups 2 that just liking "Adim Sandlur's" quotes on this site is painful to me. Yet, I do it; I would be a hypocrite otherwise.
