I feel it's the outlier of the album.  It's ok, but as an opener it kinda bummed me out the first time I heard it.  It's just so riff-y in an album that really focuses on vocal melody and groove.

They sometimes do this funky jam stuff and I never really care much for the results, but Smooth Sailing is fantastic.  The phrasing and weird little lyrical twists are a shit-ton of fun.

more about the consistency of the style of each song.  each song is a perfect The National song…maybe a little bit of a stretch here and there would've made it even more enjoyable. something to overcome upon later listens.  wabi sabi and whatnot…

If there's any complaint about this record it's that they found the way to write absolutely perfect songs, and there's not enough contrast to make a personal opinion about the state of it.

i've watched this episode a bunch of times, and still when Maeby says "oh, i don't know what i was worried about", I wonder WHY that turns into the happiest moment in GM's life.  if someone could explain that to a dunce over here….

I've always wondered whether the banana-stand-photo-montage was designed to be a 'failed to be funny' bit, or was actually a failed bit that they salvaged by mocking the whole process they took in trying to make it work.

Really?  I was on board for pretty much the whole episode's craziness, but the dog fight seemed really awkward and an obvious attempt to make the Sons look more appealing.  The fact that these guys, who engage in weekly murdering contests are so appalled by dog fights seemed ludicrous, and an obvious attempt to

my line of the night was Cooter's "Old Spanish".  I don't know what it is about that, but I laughed to myself a couple different times thinking about it.

The key to the D is the little weird things, the pronunciations, a little un-rhymed word when a rhymed word would have worked.  The idea that the guy paid for a dentist appointment and then got his dick sucked is lyrical genius.  And the A-Noose pronunciation.  With all these things, I can think of an objective reason

if you've seen a few episodes of the original, don't worry you're almost done.

Awesome!  Loving this.  I think I just found a style of music that I will be enjoying for years to come

ARGH! Mole man in background! So many moles many have fallen off face and onto shirt!!

i spent a few samples waiting for those vocals to kick in, wondering why this "guitar pop" album was all electronic-seeming.  the samples are from the wrong band.

As a huge Tim and Eric fan it pains me to say it, but this movie was like Tim and Eric Lite for me.  I was expecting 90 minutes of balls out insanity (taking a page from the ATHF:MFFT playbook), but this was more of a "movie" movie, and frankly kind of boring. The side characters barely helped at all.  Will Forte was

Can someone PLEASE make an animated gif of Linc walking with that rubber boy's head bobbing up and down.  That shit had me rolling.

Minnesota, WI is the best track on Bahn Eyever.  His low voice is so interesting, it makes me wonder why he falsetto'd most of the album.
