to address Gorplee's original question about old people who were present in the eighties: I was in high school. The Soviet Union was usually presented as evil in American movies.

I found these movies when I was a kid in high school. They gave me the mind-blowing idea that each generation could be just as clever and snarky as I thought mine was.
