If Dredd was a satire of fascism and overzealous justice, I also completely missed it. The Madrigal gang was so ruthless I just wanted Dredd to wipe them all out with extreme prejudice. And the comparisons to Verhoeven movies, esp. RoboCop, are correct.

Dredd was indeed awesome. I thought about it more afterwards than I did TDKR. But it has the usual plot holes all action movies have, and it dwells too much on the effects of the SloMo drug. Other than that it is a fully-realized vision of a very bleak future.
