I'm convinced that The Dispossessed and The Left Hand of Darkness are two of the greatest books I have ever read. Both are simply phenomenal and, combined, cement Le Guin as one of my favorite authors (even outside of Earthsea, one of my favorite series as a kid).

I feel like this show is going to be remade in thirty years on cable, with the potential filled, actually looking at the impact of a post-apocalyptic world, one without power. I look forward to that remake.

Agreed. It was a loving parody (at least how I watched it). All of the stuff specifically tailored to the show ("keep the change. actually, keep the hot dog") didn't feel malicious at all,

Agreed, this is totally correct, and that kind of low-key realism is what's so fun to mix with the comfortable formula of the episodes.
