    Good call, Paul
I'm a fan of Octopus Project, but was unaware that Hexadecagon was intended to be an immersive experience. On CD (or headphones) it's flat and the patterns go on way too long.

    Antiques Roadshow Epilogue
    From Wikipedia:
"In a record for the show, four pieces of Chinese carved jade and celadon dating to the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795), including a large bowl crafted for the Emperor, were given a conservative auction estimate of up to $1.07 million. However the items sold at

Also, advertising during Andy Rooney's portion of 60 Minutes isn't cheap.

    Odd Man Out
I like Lynda Barry's style and substance, but I had difficulty with What It Is. I recall that it began with a philosophical bang like, "Are dreams autobiography or fiction?" which I can appreciate as an existential debate for a little while, but my mind was not in it for the long haul. I can't fault Barry

@Indeedy Y Y Y Y, thanks! I was legitimately unaware (although not surprised) that video existed. My favorite clips are the ones in which people must be cooking with a blindfold on. Flipping burgers and cracking eggs into a pan is such a challenge!

Look at this one, we got the sauce pan for hubby. Oh, and a fry pan for granny. And a boiler pot for Auntie Sue. And the pans won't shut up!

I'm with Barleycorn on this one. I appreciate the thought and research that went into this recap.

Good call! The Wire references were so 2010.

    Mother Love
Mother was my favorite movie of the year. I'm going to yell SPOILERS now to say that it should have won best choreography, too.

His band, Dead Man's Bones, is pretty great, too.

I think your sales rep was referring to people purposely purchasing a satellite radio receiver. Many new cars are outfitted with the technology, which admittedly comes in handy when you hate commercials while driving and/or go on long car rides.

There's a very bad (and therefore awesome) 80s movie called Valet Girls (featuring Ron Jeremy as an extra and Tony Cox as a record producer). I predict that film will finally be released on DVD at the same time as Valet Guys so as to confuse grandmothers.

I can't comment on the music from Band of Joy because I've not heard it, but I can say that it's one of the ugliest album covers of the year. http://tinyurl.com/23oj8ut
If you think the clown is shitty, just wait until you figure out there's a god damn cat with a saxophone.

    Legitimate Discussion
I have mixed feelings about season one, but I think the show's strongest suit is survival. Seeing one person outwit/outmuscle a bunch of zombies is simply fun. If I want to watch group dynamics of the stereotypes then I'll tune to MTV. The main draw of the show is (and should be) zombies, so I

What's the problem? In Atlanta we get thunderous storms that last 30 seconds all the time.

It might have helped had he practiced before recording.

    Superlatives
    Most Surprisingly Funny: Chris Hardwick
Least Funny: (tie) Howard Kremer from Austin Stories & The Sklar Borthers
Cutest Couple: Aimee Mann & Rich Sommer

I didn't care for David Boring. I love the first act where David is a self-loathing pussy-pumper. Act two has nothing to do with the first act and it's not until the bizarro third act that you feel like Daniel Clowes is jizzing in your coffee (the joke's on him, I don't drink coffee).

I did not know that, Zilcho. Thanks!
