That's interesting. Really like your explanation. Now that I think about it it's weird that they would just leave that bit hanging. Considering the number of callback jokes/gags in the episode itself (the balloons, the frat guy, the contacts etc.), it could very well have played out the way you said.

This episode doesn't get enough credit for being as tonally varied as it is. Broad City doesn't have to be all laughs all the time.

Scandal vs Orphan Black is kind of iffy for me, because I ranked Scandal above Orphan Black in my top tv of 2013 list, mainly due to the sheer awesomeness of S2 and the kind-of-ok-kind-of-off-the-rails feeling of S3. The first half of S3 also had the Mellie episode, the Lisa Kudrow meltdown, that juicy season opener,

1. Navy blue
2. -
3. Argyle(?)
4. "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons"
5. Deadwood
6. "The Body"
7. Taxi Driver
8. Hitchcock/Welles
9. Don't have one.
10. MBV's Loveless
11. PJ Harvey
12. Ulysses

I'm not sure Bob's Burgers and New Girl lend themselves very well to stringent episodic analysis (the former thrives on weirdness and the latter on flailing about), but I look forward to watching them all the same. I still think New Girl is pretty great because the fundamentals are sound, performances are great et

Thought I would share my end-of-year tv and music lists (now that Treme's aired its finale). I might change my mind with time but right now this is where I'm at:

I don't have a problem with that. Art CAN show that humans aren't inherently decent (I mean, look at the antihero cable drama).

I think they sacrifice human decency for misery-porn satire. I get that it's meant to be disturbing, but this was really a step too far for me.

D-. One of the worst episodes of television I have seen in my life. This should not have been made.

After all my lamentations, it's still placing in my top 20.

Awful ep of HIMYM. Braving this out for Cristin Milioti and the faint glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel i.e. the series finale.

That's Boards of Canada's favorite alphabet as well!

Liked this because it reminded me of a Gillian Jacobs vine.

It's interesting, because I can imagine myself liking Hannibal a lot less if I had binged my way through the first season. I liked that I could return to it a week at a time, because being able to immerse myself in that claustrophobic, nightmarish headspace weekly made for a uniquely different TV-viewing experience.

The Bridge (Meredith Stiehm) is going to be amazing, so there's that. Venture Bros. and Futurama are also fairly enjoyable distractions.

"Every time we get a follow, this place turns into a whorehouse."

Yeah. It's creepy in that psychological way, kind of like Hannibal actually.

LOL. I like how we both ended up giving it an A. We're softies that way.
